All about me.
Your doula & photographer.

i am a mom...

... a wife, a world traveler, an animal lover, a horror movie enthusiast, a foodie, and an adventurer. I was born and raised in Northern Virginia, in a Washington, DC suburb. I found my way to Colorado after being offered an internship that would allow me to graduate from my Masters program. I loved it so much here that I decided to stay. I am passionate about human rights, inclusivity, and informed consent.

My husband, Eric, and I welcomed our daughter, Valentina, last July. My birth was absolutely transformative, although it did not play out quite as planned. You can read my story here

I am excited to be able to use my passions and knowledge from education and my own personal birth experience to support families through this wild, but magical ride that is pregnancy, birth, and beyond.

My journey to birth work.

If you want to get technical, my journey to being a birth worker started when I was 7 years old - when I told my mom I was going to be an Obstetrician one day. I went to school, got good grades, made it through college, but sadly never received that acceptance letter from medical school I had dreamed of since a young age. I got a little lost along the way and focused my life and career on Public Health.

It wasn't until the birth of Valentina that I was inspired to enter the birth world. Actually, I was REMINDED that this is where I belong because the calling never goes away. I wanted to help birthing people by educating them so they could make informed decisions. I wanted to empower birthing people and their support person to feel confident when asking questions in order to make an important decision. I said it once and I'll say it again - I am passionate about informed consent.

Now, whenever I read a birth story or see a birth image, I get goosebumps. I could study birth ALL DAY LONG. I get excited when I talk to a pregnant person, knowing that they are going to experience the most incredible rebirth of oneself, figuratively and literally.

How photography comes into play...

The camera has always been a way that I express myself. I was gifted my first digital camera at ten years old, and since then, I have documented memories while creating art at the same time. When I finally saved up enough money to buy my first DSLR, I spent most of my days photographing my pets and gorgeous landscapes on my adventures. Having images to look back on is something I have always valued and floods my body with oxytocin.

This is why I believe it is important to document birth. You will never experience a more magical, intense, spiritual, and empowering moment than childbirth... and you should be able to look back and remember how powerful you are. I feel honored to be able to witness and document these journeys.
